At half past ten in the morning of February 20, 1956, the first load of grapes was delivered with a small Bedford truck by Mr. Kappie Matthee at Brandvlei Cellar. This is a historic and exciting event. All the directors and most of the shareholders attend the occasion.
Photos are taken and everyone watches as the first grapes are unloaded and crushed. Everyone had been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time, but doubts constantly gnawed: Will it still become a reality in time? And here it is now! All the doubts and worries are gone in the blink of an eye! After the meeting, the board goes straight to the boardroom to ensure that it will not just be a "one day" success.
Blend composition: 40% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot & 10% Malbec.
The blend is made to capture the diversity of the area and quality of our red wine for wine lovers to enjoy.
The wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels to integrate the different wine components' flavor and taste profiles.
